Owners Chris and Seline Pang opened their first Sushi and Japanese restaurant in Millburn in 2003. With its fabulous cuisine and attention to detail, it soon earned a loyal clientele and grew quickly, and within a year, the Pangs opened a second in Maplewood. In the beginning of 2007, the delicious taste and fantastic New York ambiance of Samurai Sushi has come to Livingston. The Livingston restaurant offers a lovely, relaxing ambiance combining the Zen-like calm of a Japanese garden with a modern, New York sushi bar style. Earth tone walls of stone and soft, multi-colored lighting that turns to candlelight at night are enhanced by such details as a quiet waterfall and a bamboo tree screen. Fourteen television screens add to the ambiance with satellite TV entertainment. The restaurant also has a party room that accommodates business or family groups up to 35, featuring the same lovely decor. In addition, it offers live jazz music, on Saturday nights at 8 p.m. in the Livingston restaurant. The Menu The restaurant offers a wide variety of both Sushi and other Japanese specialties. In addition to no fewer than 23 different sushi and sashimi rolls, the menu features Teriyaki and Tempura entrees, including Pork or Chicken Shogayaki, sauteed in ginger sauce, and Chilean Sea Bass Teriyaki, and Tempura Lobster Tail. The Udon and Soba (noodle) selection includes Nabe Yaki Udon, with shrimp tempura, chicken, egg, mushroom and mixed vegetables in a stewstyle.
