I've eaten at Sam Cafe a few times. When Sam is there, it's great; when he's not it's pretty mediocre. Not bad ever, but not special. I will say that they allow their customers to choose a level of hot between 1 and 10. I generally get 7 which is pretty hot, but not lip numbing, nose running, eye tearing...

Glad we did. Combo Pad thai very good as was the Kung Pow Chicken. Loved the Thai lemonade/ Would do again when in the area. Looked like lots of locals and repeat customers.

The food was fantastic, ambiance great, great prices and Sam is a character who makes you feel at home from the minute you walk in. We sat after finishing and were never made to feel like we should leave. We will be coming back again.

Like many others who reviewed Sam's Cafe, we stopped here on the way through Merced. It's well worth it the stop! Delicious food which Sam puts his own individual spin on and a personal touch.

I've only had they're pah tai here -!: & OmG soooooooo delicious! no joke, u have to try it. you can chose ur level of spicy ness whether you want a 1 or 10 I chose 8 once... I love spicy food and level 8 was pretty spicy very spicy actually haha it was hard to eat but it was...
