Citysearch Editorial Review

Hidden in the downstairs of a very plain building, the Salvadorean Bakery churns out treats that are anything but. The long hallway off the main room serves as an ordering counter, display case and...

Editorial Review by Brenda Stice

This authentic bakery specializes in pupusas, traditional El Salvadoran fried cornmeal cakes stuffed with a variety of fillings.

The pupusas are fantastic!  I got the pork and spinach & cheese.  The spinach was surprisingly good.   I also picked up as slice of tres leches cake...a tad less milk then I'm used to but tasty.  I can't wait to come back and try tamales and asada.Additionally, there is a large room with booths and tables for table service if ou want to stay and eat while it's piping hot.

This place is great. Just got a beautiful Tres Leches cake for my wife's birthday, made to order (strawberries with a custom flower decoration), -- it blew away our guests who demolished a rather large cake it a short period of time. No foolin', people LOVED this cake. Then there is the food... Great quality …

I went here once because I had some people told me that they made really good breakfast pastries. Unfortunately, I beg to differ.I had a variety of their donut type things, and I find them dry and not that tasty.Plus it was a little on the pricey side for the quality of the goodies. In short, once was enough; I won't be going back.

Business description (2)

Salvadorean Bakery is located at 1719 Sw Roxbury St in Seattle and has been in the business of Retail Bakeries since 1996.

Known for its pupusas and other "amazing, delicious" pastries, this "humble", inexpensive White Center Salvadoran "mainstay" is "way more than just a bakery", serving regional savories such as a "plato tipico" that's "a good sampler plate" breakfast through dinner; though some report "no atmosphere" in the "hole-in-the-wall" digs, there's always takeout.
