At one time the Salem Public Library was rated one of the busiest library's in the country for cities the size of Salem. It has a great selection and is part of the Chemeketa Library system which allows you to order books from other libraries.

People need to know what a treasurer Salem Oregon has in it's library. From the Friends Store that sells posters, books, cups, other gagetry, to the children's section upstairs, to the rental of old vinyl and artwork, the have an endless variety of entertainment.
And you can always find a quiet corner to read.

I love the Salem Library for several reasons. First, they have an amazing childrens' section upstairs, where there is the Discovery Room, which changes themes several times a year, giving children hands' on discovery of science, food, and much more.
