What the community has to say about Saigon Pagolac Restaurant

Information about this business (1)

From the outside Saigon Pagolac looks like nothing special, but inside you'll find what some call the best Vietnamese food in Houston, and that is actually quite a feat as Houston has the second largest Vietnamese community in the U.S. The Seven Course Beef is the big hit here with different cuts of beef and means of cooking the beef, as well as a variety of sauces, brought to the table. Vietnamese Beef Prepared 7 different ways

One of my dad's favorite things is "Bo 7 Mon", which literally translated means "Beef 7 Dishes" or 7 courses of beef. Like the french fondue or brazilian churrasco, "Bo 7 Mon" is a Vietnamese specialty that is hard to find, and Saigon Pagolac is one of the only places in the city to offer this specialty.
Traditionally, the dishes are:
1) Beef meatball ("cha dum") with shrimp crackers
2) Beef dipped in vinegar ("bo nhung dam")
3) Beef wrapped in grape leaf ("bo la lot"
4) Beef bbq wrapped with fat ("bo nuong mo chai")
5) Beef marinated in lemongrass, bbq'd at table ("bo nuong vi")
6) Beef...

My favorite dishes are Bo nuong vi and Bo nhung dam and they make it sooo good here. Growing up, My mama made this or pho on the weekends. The fish is also good here. Service is kinda slow but it's better than Jasmines. Jasmines has the same great food mentioned above except their fish is sometimes dry. Overall, thumbs up!

This is a staple for Vietnamese food in Chinatown! The BEST and most unique thing here is the giant fried catfish. With sizes analogous to Grande, Venti, and Trenta - these are giant beasts of a meal. The order comes with an assortment of raw veggies, rice paper, and sauces. This 3 or 4 pound fish is …

I love this place and so do all of my family and friends. The Bo Nuong Vi is lemongrass marinated beef that you cook up at your table on a portable gas grill on a clay dish. It comes with an assortment of vegetables and rice paper that you use to roll it up ala Spring Roll style. There are two sauces, nuoc mam (fish …
