Didn't do their research, lack of resources, no respect for my time

I had my transmission rebuilt with a two year warranty by Rutland. A few months later it started acting up again, so I brought it back under warranty. They tried replacing the speed sensor (on a guess), which did not work. Again I brought the vehicle back and it sat on their lot for two days while they "ordered a wiring diagram". Apparently they don't keep these kinds of things in their computer system or have access to it on the internet. I gave up and took the van to the dealership and got an immediate response. Apparently, there is a publicly available service bulletin for my model that states that the PCM (transmission computer) must be replaced if there are any transmission issues and that not doing so will further damage the transmission. Rutland had no idea, but I gave them a chance to fix their mistake by driving it all the way back from the dealer. They tell me there is nothing wrong with the transmission other than the computer and I should have that computer replaced (not under warranty, they'd have to order it)...back to the dealer. I've been on the phone with them and told them that after replacing the computer, the transmission specs out the same way, just as the dealership said it would. In other words: the damage is done. They've asked me to bring it back again so they can "try some more things" but haven't said specifically what. The dealership has told me it will likely need another rebuild or replacement. It's possible that the dealership is wrong about the internal physical damage, but at least they had proper resources, answers and timely service. I'm taking it to another ATRA shop that will honor the national warranty. I'm done dealing with these guessers who have no respect for my time and need for reliable transportation.

10/26/2010 Edit: I'm STILL dealing with these clowns because ATRA won't let you change shops unless you actually move away. They've been telling me, literally "If it's not done today, it will be done tomorrow by noon" for three days now. The reason, they claim, is that other warranty work is getting in the way, and that those jobs are higher priority because they've been out of their vehicles for even longer. I see a pattern forming.

And yes, Honda was right, there is internal damage, they were wrong and it took them weeks to admit it.

another update: it's been back in the shop for transmission fluid leaks. They were very nice about it but it's all just too much for me to move away from star (Edited January 27, 2011)

They did a great job on my car, fixed it quickly and at a better price than expected.
Would highly recommend. Maybe not the best communicators, so be proactive, but they are honest and fair.
