Help us make it rightRomano's is a cozy and classic Italian and Sicilian restaurant located in historic Julian, California.
The Romano Family has been in the bar and restaurant business since the 1920s when Antonino Romano, an immigrant from Sicily, opened his first restaurant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In the 1960s, Romano’s Deli in Pacific Beach was famous for its buckets of spaghetti and abalone frittata. Romano’s Restaurant opened in Julian in 1982. After fifteen years of operation by owners outside the...
The restaurant is an exciting destination for travelers and Southern California locals. In 1994 Joe and Carmel sold the restaurant. In March of 2012 the Romano family took over the operation with the original menu and several family members on the staff. We welcome you and your family to join our family for delicious food and a friendly environment to enjoy.
Occupying a historic home just off Main Street (vintage photos illustrate the little farmhouse's past), Romano's is proud to be the only restaurant in town not serving apple pie. It's a home-style Italian spot, with red-checked tablecloths and straw-clad Chianti bottles. Romano's offers pizzas and calzones, as well as more creative fare like spicy apple-cider sausage, and pork loin in cinnamon,...

We went in at 5 pm with no reservation and the gentleman in charge of seating was friendly and apologetic that he wasn't able to seat us immediately. It was a very busy evening with...

We went to Romano's on a Saturday night during a non-event weekend and it was good that we thought to make a reservation. The joint was really busy. There are 4 tables and a nice-looking bar in one room, and 6 tables in the front room. The dinner salad had cheese, olives, artichokes, pepperoncini, all good stuff. We ordered lasagne...
In one of Julian's old buildings, there is this quaint restaurant with fantastic tasting food. My wife ordered the Sicilian Steak (a rib eye), and I the Fettuccine Romano with Shrimp that was cooked to perfection! (I'm picky about my shrimp, and these were delicious and cooked perfectly!). They do their papa Joe Romano proud! Like most of the older...
