Red Lantern Restaurant Review

Big Night Entertainment Group is behind this sexy spot in Boston's South End. Asian-influenced décor includes hundreds of red lanterns hung from the ceiling and strung by seashells from Vietnamese beaches. There is a 20-foot door that leads to a private bar area while the main dining room has a sushi counter, wok station and open kitchen. Start with a Sapporo on draft or the Grass Fed Mule, a...

"Socializing" Back Bay folks know to "come early or stand in line" for this "happening" Pan-Asian place with "huge Buddha" statues and other "breathtaking", "cool" decor elements; the "nouveau" fusion fare and "inventive" cocktails are "a little overpriced" for some, but you're really "paying for the scene."

For Boston, Red Lantern, an Asian-themed restaurant and nightspot that churns out tasty small plates until late, is definitely something different. The product of a deep-pocketed local nightclub group, the place is a little over the top, with tranquil stone Buddhas, red lanterns, and Vietnamese seashells hanging from the 20-foot ceilings, big arched windows, and black-lacquered appointments....

Sophistocated Asian fusion tailored to the Boston trendsetter. Draped with strands of sea shells from Vietnamese beaches, interiors are impressive and decadent. This decadence pours over into the kitchen, where patrons can see master chefs working at the full sushi bar and open wok. Dark and sensuous, it's an exotic getaway without leaving old Boston town.

Food and service was good. My only issue was after sitting for awhile with a group of friends having a great time and some drinks we were asked to leave our table so that they could use the floor as a dance floor. It would have been nice if they offered us a table somewhere else and maybe a round of drinks. Manger was very rude

Group of 4 came here on a cold, snowy Friday. We were seated promptly at a nice table overlooking the street - cozy, clean, and comfortable. Our server came over quickly and took our drink orders - she wanted to take our whole order, but since we had just sat down and hadn't looked at the menu, we were not ready. That proved to be the style of that particular server - wanting to get us out of...

While visiting my daughter in Boston(BU) from New York City, I took her and her roommate to the Red Lantern for dinner. The food was outstanding and the restaurant was beautiful. Hard to please a New Yorker, but it did and we will definitely go back! The girls even loved the music!

The prices seemed expensive but the portions were huge and the food was delicious! Our food was delivered within 10 minutes of ordering, which was around 6:15 on a Friday evening. The place was not very full but began to get busy after 7:00. I would return on a Saturday to check out the live DJ and dancing.

Our server Patrick was very polite and helpful, and he made sure that we could get to the theatre on time. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was very warm and inviting. Our only complaint was that the Perfect Manhattans we ordered (half dry and half sweet vermouth) were drier than we like. In fairness, we did not ask to have it corrected, due to time constraints.
