After spending 22 years in the Army I often shop at the Great Lake PX. Why? No taxes and the quality of merchandise. Did you know that you can go to any AAFES outlet and specifically order anything and they will buy it on your behalf. My example is Ashley Furniture. Go to Ashley find something you like, get the model number, then go order it at the exchange. I bought a couch from the PX...
Lets start with the fact that the Navy Exchange does not use appropriated funds for any of its operations and operates more like a non profit organization than a for profit company. I know this is an old post-- but as a military spouse and mother--- I wanted to state that 70% of all of the NEX/AAFES Profits go directly to MWR. So when you shop at the NEX- everytime you spend a $1--- calculate 70% of that-- going directly to MWR. You need to ask your local MWR what they do with the funds that the NEX/AAFES donate.
Unofficial 49ers bar in Chicago! Nice atmosphere, great people, and underrated bar food.
Go Niners!
The food was descent, at best. While they did a great job building/designing the place (lots of TV's and hang out area with leather sofa's/chairs), I never see nay customers is there. With no crowd and okay bar food, I probably won't be back.
Red Brick is located at 1938 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL. This location is in the North Center neighborhood. This business specializes in Restaurants.
This atypical bar menu caters to vegetarians and health nuts. A handy symbol appears next to at least 15 menu items suitable for meat-shunners, and the majority of the food is pan-fried instead of deep-fried, making it friendlier on the waistline.
If you're into lounging by the fire but not watching sports on TV, bring your laptop along and enjoy the complimentary Wi-Fi.
Take up residence in the quartet of leather chairs near the entrance. With a fireplace and your own personal flatscreen, you'll feel like you're being served in your living room.
