Reading Public Library is at the heart of a community of avid readers and active learners who seek out cultural, literary, and educational opportunities. It is a warm and welcoming place for everyone.

The Reading Public Library is based in the former Highland Elementary School, which was built in 1894. It became the library in 1984.

The library offers books, magazines, newspapers, internet services, teen and children's books, a local history room, book clubs and other activities.

Ruth Urell is library director.

The Reading Public Library is normally open Monday through Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., until 5:00 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursdays. From October to May, the Reading Public Library is also open on Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
