Editorial reviews from the web (3)

"Any cut will satisfy" at Michael ‘Ray' Landrum's Silver Spring chophouse where "steaks of the highest quality" put the "big boys to shame on price" and are accompanied by "delicious" sides and "bargain" wines; service is generally "attentive", and though the "fancy" white tablecloths are traditional, the decor feels "more gender-neutral than most" steakhouses; P.S. "burgers in the bar" are...

Ray’s the Classics Restaurant Review

Along with Michael Landrum’s Arlington success called Ray’s the Steaks, DC diners get another chance to enjoy the chef-owner’s quirky approach to steaks and more, but with a twist. Here, Landrum expands on his steak-and-potato-and-salad theme with a menu that’s more retro than chic, living up to the classics model with a Waldorf salad, crab cakes, bacon-wrapped sea scallops, rack of lamb, and...

Good steaks and Spanish wines

Average Rating

The title says it all...Servers were friendly and knowledgeable about the produce, and gave good advice about which meat to choose and the cooking time. I learnt something ! Coming from Europe, I know many Spanish wines, but this particular selection I had not tried. Again good advice and a superb wine.

Excellent food in old-school setting

The Classics has continually served excellent food--high quality with a lot of flavor--since they opened. The bistro special is still a fantastic deal--although they recently reduced the options for entrees and appetizers to just two! And took away our favorite choices!

Outstanding Every Single Time

I was somewhat skeptical the first time I went to the restaurant because I am not a big steak guy. Right away they treated my wife and I like we were the only ones in the restaurant (I assure you we were not)...the staff was fantastic. The only thing better than the staff was the food. My wife and I...

Dinner and a movie

My husband and I wanted to grab a quick bite and use a gift certificate we got to this restaurant. The front area does not require a reservation. Even the menu is different than the main dining area. The wait for a table was minimal and the service was fantastic. Their sandwiches are to die for. We were able to...

Terrible

Overpriced, steaks are not cooked well at all. I am certain they don't even let them rest. Service was beyond subpar, unconcerned, clearly not trained at all.
