Seems to me you are more worried about the pills you wanted rather than the dental work that was done on you. This is the reason Dr's don't go and give pills to people all the time. If you were in that much pain your regular Dr should have prescribed something for you. You weren't Dr Rasmussen patient until you were in the chair having the tooth removed.
Personally I found the percoset that was prescribed to be more than adequate after my tooth was removed. My tooth was removed quickly and I was on my way with scripts for an antibiotic and pain meds to fill. I am a few days out and I have no more pain and my mouth is healing quickly. My only gripe is that he doesn't use anything to numb your mouth before he injects the Novocaine.
If you are in pain, as is usually the case with pre-surgical conditions, DO NOT SEE JAMES RASMUSSEN.
This is one of "those doctors" that doesn't believe in issuing prescriptions for narcotics. He will do so, but ONLY AFTER surgery and ONLY for a weak dosage.
I had a bone fragment to come up, press on a nerve and start to poke out of my gum. It was a progressive thing: it got worse with time and the pain escalated as well. I'll take this chance to mention that this condition was something that was caused by the tooth extraction that Dr. Rasmussen also had performed a year prior. This was an extremely painful condition and he refused to treat me for pain. Instead, I got the blues from his assistants and from his own lips about people abusing his good nature and he just can't take chances anymore. (I was in such pain and in need of medical attention, it didn't even occur to me that if this surgeon has had legal troubles, maybe I should go elsewhere). So, this means that honest patients who legitimately need pain medication will just have to suffer because of whatever bad judgements or negligible characters he's been involved with in the past. This is beyond ridiculous. It's cruel.
Personally, I'll NEVER go back there. ANY doctor worth a hot steaming pile knows--you treat the whole patient and not just the wound.
Dr. Rasmussen and his crew in Manassas are top notch. I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed. The receptionist was very helpful and knowledgeable with answering my questions about insurance and was able to get me in quickly. The procedure went smoothly, taking less than 45 minutes from the time I walked in the door until the time I walked out. A few days after, Dr. Rasmussen offered to check up...
This office is very combative when it comes to giving you information about insurance. If your dental insurance provider says one thing, they challenge by saying they've worked with insurance for years - and they don't care what the insurance company says. So you're in the middle of trying to clarify what you need to pay/not pay. And this office is not very helpful. They find it threatening...
