Large heaping portions of down-home style cooking so good, you'll think you've died and gone to heaven! This is why it's called "Soul Food."

Praline Connection Restaurant Review

Found just a short walk from the French Quarter and smack in the middle of Frenchmen Street's music scene, this local favorite specializes in satisfying Creole fare. Dishes with descriptors that include “stewed,” “smothered” and “fried” shape the offerings. Dining rooms have white walls adorned with black curtains and lined with shelves displaying the kitchen's packaged wares and other local...

Down-home cooking in the southern Creole style is the forte of this very Southern restaurant just a few blocks from the French Quarter. The fried or stewed chicken, smothered pork chops, fried chicken livers, and collard greens are definitively done, and the soulful filé gumbo, peas with okra, and sweet-potato pie are welcome in a neighborhood otherwise in short supply of soul food. As a tourist, our hotel in the French Quarter was not far from here....fell in love with a New Orleans classic at this restaurant....red beans and rice. Prices were very reasonable and the service was excellent!

The One Place I Ate At, Twice

I had eaten all around the French Quarter and this was the only place worth mentioning . The food was exactly how I expected Creole food, from New Orleans to taste like. I doubt I'll ever go to New Orleans again, but if I do, I'll be going here to eat.

We were looking for a place to eat near some music spots on Frenchman Street and found this place. Looking at other positive reviews, we decided to stop in. The food was good, and the service was excellent. We were able to get in and out quickly so we could enjoy the rest of the evening.

Solid New Orleans Food

While it appears a bit touristy the food really is good and the wait staff are super attentive. I highly recommend for a good sit-down meal on Frenchmen.

It's an old timey diner. The staff are really friendly and nice. The food is good with a great selection - try the soul food mixed platter for a real treat. My favorite dish there is the fried chicken.
