Postrio is a destination in and of itself. The 50-seat bar/café makes a perfect spot to pop in for a casual bite before or after shopping or the theater. It is the perfect place to sip on one of our signature cocktails while taking in a little people-watching. The bar/café, has a full menu available from 11:30 am until 10:30 pm.
Though Postrio is no longer Wolfgang Puck's San Francisco outpost, it continues to accommodate diners in the Union Square area for breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. Descend down a sweeping central staircase to enjoy breakfast in the main dining room, which also hosts private events. Chef...
Food was good. Good location. Nothing special.
Expectations were not met on our anniversary dinner. Service friendly but spotty - I had to remind server to bring our wine to the table. Our entrees were definitely of the "small plate" variety ... in fact they looked as though they were our appetizers. we love the dining rooms and decor and atmosphere, , food is always excellent. We usually stay at the Prescott Hotel so it's convenient to have a great restaurant next door.
The food was excellent, but the ambience was decidedly in the need of an update. We had hanger steak with potatoes, and chicken breast, which were very tasty, although the plates should have been warmer. Bottom line, the food was very good, but the atmosphere was lacking.
This restaurant is in the Klimpton hotel a few blocks up the hill from Market and 5th. The atmosphere is rather old-fashioned like fancy restaurants of the 60's. The food was surpringly good and innovative for a reasonable price.
