My father who now lives in Australia has had an account with PNC from its beginning. It bought Riggs Bank years ago. My father has sent large checks to us over the past couple of years. Now a small check is not being honored because Mr. Kim and Mr Yeo, managers at PNC have said my father needs to have an updated signature card on file. My dad is 85, lives in Australia, doesn't drive or get out...

If you look at it from a different perspective they are actually being very account holder friendly.  The REAL issue is that he is on the other side of the world and has nothing to do with his age.  Apparently his signature has changed enough over time(not uncommon for any age) that they want a new signature card.   Not that you will ever believe this but it is for HIS protection. ...
