The first Pizza Hut was opened in 1958 by Dan Carney and his brother in their home town of Wichita, Kansas. First they borrowed $600 from their mother. Then they bought some second-hand equipment and rented a small hut-shaped building. After putting the word "pizza" on the sign, they only had room for three more letters.
