Fort Kaskaskia needs a shop at the Menard Home just like Fort de Chartres.
A home built in the mid 1700's and furnished in quite luxurious style for the time. The Menard family was quite well off and some of the household furniture is on display. The person working their is very pleasant and quite well informed about the Menard family. A great view of life in the 1700 era.
Our family visited the Pierre Menard Home and found it very interesting. We visited on a rainy Saturday and received a personal tour of the home. Unfortunately the video documenting the history of the home was not working during our visit due to an earlier power failure. Our tour guide gave us much information but it would have been better...
During our stay in the St Louis area we visited many historic, French colonial homes on both banks of the Mississippi, but all felt our tour of the Menard house was the best.
