While on a train trip from Danali to Anchorage, several of us decided to eat sea food upon arrival. One of the people called to Phillis's to let them know ten people would be there at about 9:00. However, we arrived early. Eventhough there was room for five people, the manager refused to seat us at first. When he did seat us we were ignord for a half an hour not getting menues or drinks....

I lived in Anchorage for 3 years and Phyllis's was always my #1 choice. The food is fantastic. The wait staff is on the casual side but this is Alaska, not LA or New York. All of the people who left bad reviews are just full of it. The shrimp are delicious! The steaks are fantastic and the ribs are out of sight. For years Phyllis's Cafe & Salmon Bake has been capitalizing on its choice 5th Avenue location to attract tourists. What isn't choice is the food. Yes, the salmon was acceptable, but nothing beyond that. The green salad was as pedestrian as they get. The bread rolls the same. There is nothing to recommend this place other than its location.
