In Short
Located on hip Ballard Avenue, this low-key neighborhood pub has a dining room in front and a bustling bar in back. The menu is populated with German comfort food, including giant Wiener schnitzel served with pommes… Read More
Best veggie burger I've had. Sunflower Cutlet burger - yes, I know it sounds weird but it's flippin amazing. I'm not talking no overly healthy quinoa black bean whole grain shenanigans. This is pure vegetarian fried goodness. Also, the beer selection here is killer. They offer Samuel Smith's organic beer - if they have the chocolate stout, prepare to have your socks blown off. And skip dessert.
It hurts me to write a bad review for this pub. My husband and I used to dine here frequently a few years ago. The changes in Ballard (parking and congestion) kept us from coming here, until tonight. I love the atmosphere, rough and raw and proletariat. They have a great beer menu. Their deep fried pickles are wonderful. And...
This place is a disappointment. The drinks and food are consistently great and the prices are very reasonable (downright cheap for Seattle) but the service leaves a lot to be desired. We have visited this bar frequently and liked it enough to bring a great deal of people in, groups ranging from 4 to …

My first choice in Ballard. Low key, usually open seating, and just general awesomeness. I've been coming here for years and never had a bad experience. The selection of German beers is key and goes well with all of their house made dishes. The fried pickles are the best I've ever had and although I'm …

Pubs: A quintessential German pub, this local institution places a premium on the things that matter: excellent food, drink, and cheer like you'd expect to find at an Old Country alehouse. Indeed, you won't find gaudy decor and flashing neon lights that hide shortcomings — simple wooden chairs and paneling are as flashy as it gets. What you will find, though, is a friendly crowd that enjoys...
Operating a place where people can come and enjoy themselves with good cheer, food and drink has been a goal for both of us (the owners) for some time. Additionally, having lived in Germany in various points of our lives, the love of good German food and customs is dear to us. Put these together and you have The People's Pub (Die Volkskneipe). We want you to feel welcome here, as well as become...
Best known for authentic German food & beer (draft & bottled). It also serves food late and has a fully stocked bar with drink specials, this place serves a regional German and American cuisine. Expect the average entrée to cost in the range of $8 to $12, and you can go dressed any way you choose -- within reason.
Atmosphere: You`ll be able to take in the view of Mountains, Trains, Harbor from...
Save Money: Early in the week, kitchen specials are priced to reward those who can make it in during off-peak hours.
The Extras: If schnitzel isn't your thing, the menu also includes several universals, like Caesar salad and hamburgers.
Know Before You Go: Happy hour runs from 4pm to 6pm daily in the bar, with specials on drinks and select menu items.
