When Matt Lewis started his food truck Where Ya At Matt? in 2010, it was no surprise that it became a hit in Seattle, bringing New Orleans street food to the streets of the Emerald City. When Restaurant Roux opened in 2013, the idea wasn’t to simply copy and paste the truck into a brick and mortar restaurant but to expand on the idea of creole food in a Seattle setting.

Restaurant Roux Restaurant Review

With Restaurant Roux, the old bones of the Buckaroo, the famous dive bar, were transformed into a polished area where shiny wooden booths and tabletops gleam for diners who line up outside for weekend brunch, and crowd in again for dinner. They’re there as much for New Orleans classics like jambalaya and andouille sausage as they are for Matt Lewis’ more inventive creations, such as the crunchy...

Shrimp & Grits - YUM!

Average Rating

I'd been to Roux once before and enjoyed their fried chicken but it was a bit too noisy that night to enjoy a conversation with my date. I went again on a Monday and it was much quieter so was able to catch up with a long lost friend. We ended up staying a couple of hours and really enjoyed the food as well the lovely white blend they offered that evening by the glass. I'll definitely be back...

We sat at the Bar and our Service was excellent! We had the Shrimp and Grits and it was fantastic, perfectly cooked shrimp and a rich spicy sauce. We also had the Chilaquiles and they were a little soggy but good flavor. The atmosphere is really mellow her and I love the industrial space. It felt warm and cosy. The hostess was really friendly and accommodating, and the Bartender was friendly...

Food was good, service was terrible. If we go back we will sit at the bar and avoid table service.

My partner and I had a great first experience at Roux. Our bartender/server was super knowledgeable about the menu and happily offered suggestions. We ended up trying some small plates that we probably normally wouldn't have...but were so glad we did! SO DELICIOUS!! Loved it all.

We love Roux! Great food and great service! I love the chicken and waffles. The chicken is perfectly fried and doesn't have too much batter. The egg and ham benedict also is a favorite. The staff always is very nice. I enjoy sitting at the kitchen bar and watching the crew make breakfast.
