"It's hard to believe it's all gourmet kosher" marvel the observant of this Med-American "nice surprise" in Downtown Brooklyn serving the "creative" likes of beef-cheek pizza and chicken 'n' sesame waffles; service can be on the "slow" side, and the "teeny-tiny" interior gets "cramped", but the back garden adds elbow room in warm weather; P.S. closed Friday nights and Saturdays.
Family owned French Progressive Kosher Bistro
This small, OU-certified Kosher restaurant has a menu featuring yellow tail tartare, free range duck breast and braised shoulder of veal, not to mention a substantial beer and wine list. Pardes is family run by chef/owner Moses Wendell and his wife and restaurant manager, Shana Wendell. Reservations are required for dinner, so be sure to call ahead. Pardes is closed on Friday.
Know Before You Go: Mai is BYOB for now, and the super-friendly staff will gladly put your wine in a bucket of ice.
The Extras: There are a few vegetarian options on the menu, and many dishes can also be requested meat-free.
