Restaurant

Opus One serves "American cuisine with a continental flair." The lunch and dinner menus, as well as the individualized bills of fare created for its growing banquet and catering business, boast a variety of creatively prepared foods, made from scratch. Extra touches go into the planning, preparation and presentation of each dish. Opus One's staff smokes the restaurant's meats, poultry and...

In the 1970s, third-generation restaurateur James C. Kokas dreamed of opening an upscale restaurant in downtown Detroit. By the mid-1980s all the pieces were in place to transform an old taxi garage on East Larned Street into one of the most elegant restaurants in the Midwest, Opus One. Today the building’s smart façade and comfortable dining room and bar, is only matched by its exquisite cuisine.

Opus One Restaurant Review

Opus One is flexible, like the savvy corporate executives who frequent it. At busy times, peek in the mirrored dining room and see which bigwig (from General Motors, Blue Cross or one of the Detroit sports teams) is sitting pretty. Fare includes Alaskan king...

This restaurant closed at least 18 months ago. The owners originally said they were re-working it for a more casual dining experience. But, no movement. Now, the building is empty, and is for sale. A loss to the dining community, but that's the way it is in the world of restaurants.

Have been there a couple of times..its ok. But there is one reason why I won't go back once I find out that the owner treats his employees like crap I will never go back. I guess the guy is really mean and makes people cry. Really these…
