Editorial reviews from the web (3)

A "people-watching" paradise, this "upscale" Californian duo in Aliso Viejo and Irvine "consistently delivers" "fresh fish" in a "classy" setting that holds an "air of sophistication"; the boisterous bar with its "divine" cocktails can be "quite a scene", so "bring earplugs or sit outside" on the "serene" patio.

Opah Restaurant Review

Opah attracts a lively and professional singles crowd because of its casual-upscale vibe and its rocking live bands on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Friendly servers navigate the noisy bar scene. We’ve enjoyed chef/partner Marc Cohen’s (230 Forest Avenue in Laguna Beach) spicy and sticky sweet rock shrimp wonton nachos at the bar with a glass of chilled Sauvignon Blanc. Seafood is...

Eye-popping presentation and flavorful cuisine is the name of the game at this contemporary restaurant.

Exceptional

We went on a busy night without reservations, but were seated promptly and the waitress pointed out specials for the evening, answering our questions and offered suggestions. The food was exceptional, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was cozy and comfortable for our family from out of town. We would definitely go back when in the area...

The bouillabaisse was hearty and as close to authentic as you could get in these parts. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly service.

Great if you haven't had really fresh seafood, mediocre if you have

The problem with a restaurant that names itself after a Hawaiian fish is that it is just daring you to compare its food with the sort of seafood that you can find very easily in Hawaii.
Well, as anybody who has been to Hawaii, Seattle, or other great seaports where fish arrive daily fresh caught and never frozen, there is...

Perfect for excellent, slightly upscale lunch

Opah happens to be a favorite place for me and my work colleagues to go for lunch (I'm rarely there for dinner). Not at the tip-top of my list, but a good, solid choice to get a nice lunch.
[My rating applies to lunch only] In every aspect, the restaurant rates a solid thumbs-up: the menu, although not extravagant, offers...

Went here for lunch with a business associate. Was the first time I've ever been here, and I know I will be coming back! The restaurant is located on the corner of Jamboree and Irvine in the Irvine Marketplace shopping center. It's sandwiched in-between a BJ's Pizza and an iHop. There's also a Chase Bank and a Target near by....

Fine Dining

Sophisticated atmosphere and tasty cuisine at Opah Seafood Grill won over friends and foodies Aaron and Chou, so I finally made it to this South County favorite. A step into the lively restaurant’s Irvine Marketplace location explains why it’s drawn locals for years.

Trend-setting south Orange County restaurant has gained a reputation for serving unbeatable California Contemporary cuisine. Executive Chef Marc Cohen's stylistic menu is fresh and innovative. Famous for grilled Hawaiian opah; pan-seared Atlantic salmon and a wide-raning selection of desserts, including the always-popular white chocolate chunk cheesecake.

The Extras: Live music is featured in the bar on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday nights.

What to Drink: The expansive wine list and gourmet martinis are the draw. Try the Opah chocolate-dipped martini for something different.
