Course is improving, suggest trying it at least once

Decided to give this course a chance this year, and I was surprised with the improvements to the greens. The fairways were nothing spectacular, remain how they have been for the most recent years. Rough was high, had some issues looking for balls just off the fairway.

Starter said the course just opened after being closed for a couple of years. The fairways were in very bad condition but the greens were decent. With more rain and some TLC the course will get much better. There are some fun holes.

Poor maintenance over the years

I used to play this course when it was privately owned. When it was well maintianed and beautiful. Ten years later, now owned by the city. Little maintnance and the course looks terrible and run down. The only diff between the rugf and the fairways is the fairways are mown shorter. There is clover and grabgrass covering the fairways. Located just East of Warren and Northwest of Youngstown on East Market Street in Howland Township, Old Avalon is in a great location and easily accessible from Route 11 and Route 82. Old Avalon is an 18-hole par 71 public golf course.
