Oak Restaurant Review

Oak offers contemporary dishes within an open and airy space in the Design District. Begin with beef tartare made with egg yolk mousse, tarragon and black olive, or pork belly with crispy rice, kumquat and soy-honey. A more recent review from D proclaimed Gras' menu "erratic" and waxed nostalgic for the glory days under former chef Maddy.

First time to Oak in a couple years. Very enjoyable meal with great service. We had both the Halibut and the Scallop entrees and would definitely order them again. The Fennel/Grapefruit salad was also a winner. Wont take us 2 years to get back there again

While this isn't necessarily an inexpensive night out, the food is well presented and delicious, and service is friendly and attentive.

The menu, recently redesigned by chef John Tesar, includes a sumptuous lump crab gnocchi enhanced by a lemon-butter sauce. Not all of the entrees are as stellar. Halibut with Cabernet and port reduction was dry and the accompanying chanterelles crunched with grit. Despite the inconsistencies, Oak is worth a try.
