What the community has to say about Niko Niko's

Information about this business (1)

At Niko Niko's, the decor and interior are reminiscent of a low-key diner, but fans of Greek food will not be disappointed in the least by the menu. If your focus is not on atmosphere, definitely give it a try. Outdoor seating is a perk in fair weather. Prices are extremely reasonable, but expect to really fall in love with the traditional gyros, the hamburger-stuffed cabbage rolls and the...

Niko Niko's Greek American Cafe Restaurant Review

This Greek-American café, housed in a glass-enclosed former gas station, is a Houston staple for its gyros and hummus. But don’t pass up the daily specials by Eleni Fetokakis, who opened the restaurant back in 1977. The pork chop is particularly juicy and good, but the lamb shank and grilled fish entrées are also winners. Order at the counter, grab a glass (or a bottle) of retsina, claim a...

Good and fast Greek food is what has made Niko Niko's a mainstay of hungry Montrose residents for over twenty years. The tiny, hot open kitchen serves up a surprisingly large selection of sandwiches, salads and substantial entrees. We can… Read More

"Damn good" is the consensus on this budget Montrose Hellenic dispensing "classic Greek cooking" in "generous" portions like kebabs that "rock" and potatoes full of "buttery bliss"; there's "always a line", but it moves fast, and it's all "worth it" for the "tasty" bites; P.S. the Downtown branch on Market Square Park is quaint, with outdoor seating and lunch options for office dwellers.

Bring a big appetite and a little money to this hole-in-the-wall landmark for great Greek grub.

Went again to eat at Niko Niko's after not living in Houston, Texas for over 20 years.
They have not missed a beat and the quality is still high and they still have the BEST GYRO'S in Houston, Texas. They have even more parking spaces, a larger dining area inside and outside and many, many more staff working there and...

Awesome falafel wraps at a great price

Even though Houston isn't known for its fabulous Greek, I enjoyed my visit to Niko Nikos. The falafel in my pita wrap was cooked and seasoned near perfectly. The slices of pita I received with my meal were fresh, as was the tzatziki sauce. I asked for my wrap without onions and when some were accidentally added, the staff was...

Mostly delicious

We ordered carry out and the food was mostly good. The lamb kebabs, roasted chicken, lemon potatoes and lamb shank were all delicious. Side salads were fresh and crunchy (careful of the olives, they have pits!) Taramusalata was not as good as YaYa Mary's.
Feta fries and desserts were disappointing. Fries were very greasy, over fried with a lot of...

The place was packed!! Just so you know there is no waitress service, you place your order and get a electronic device to let you know when your food is ready. Well I placed my order for a family of 4 and waited 30 minutes like I was told. I was then notified by my device our meal was ready. When...

I stopped in for a piece of baklava after having eyeballed the pastry case the day prior. It was so massive that I was able to stretch it out--dessert and breakfast the next morning :)

Eleni Fetokakis runs her Greek-American cafe, Niko Niko's, with a German work ethic. She tells employees if they want to relax, go home. She says she isn't running a school, she's running a restaurant, and she doesn't have time to teach everyone how to do everything every day. If someone isn't doing something right, she follows behind giving orders and corrections. This is nothing new. She's...
