Napa Valley Wine Train Restaurant Review

As at every train station, people here seem from elsewhere, cued by tour group name tags, accents and fussier-than-usual apparel --- apropos for a formal photo prior to the excitement of “all aboard!” Journeys vary by train car: if it's a special occasion, splurge for a Vista Dome booking, a gleaming antique Pullman car with plush, elegant booths and a glass-domed ceiling that casts a romantic,...

Several century-old restored Pullman railroad cars and a two-story 1952 Vista Dome car with a curved glass roof travel a leisurely, scenic route between Napa and St. Helena. All trips include a well-made lunch or dinner; for all lunches and Saturday dinner you can combine your trip with a winery tour. Murder-mystery plays and dinners with vintners and winemakers are among the regularly...

It's politically incorrect in the company of some Napa winemakers even to mention the Wine Train. Don't be so jaded. Pack your dinner jacket, pose for a snapshot and climb aboard for a leisurely, scenic, eat-drink-and-ride adventure in a…

Just had the best 3hour trip on the Napa wine train. Service and food were exceptional. Recommend the champagne dome as you get to keep your seat and don’t have to share a table but the scenery is beautiful wherever you sit.
Thoroughly recommend this...

Great way to visit 3 historic wineries in Napa. Three tours and tastings along the way combined with food on the train. Only thing they could add is a bit of commentary along the way about the area and some of the other wineries. But...

TLDR: Food and service was good. Wasn't really worth the price.Rode the wine train as a shore excursion from Royal Caribbean's Jewel of the Seas... We were supposed to be in the dome car, but...

Tips about this business (4)

Know Before You Go

Wine is not included with most meals. Guests can order from an extensive menu, which includes wine sold by the glass ($6-$12) and the bottle ($19-$66.)

Save Money

Try the wine tasting option; for $5, you can choose any four wines off the extensive menu, including selections only sold by the bottle.

When to Go

For the best scenery, plan your trip just before harvest season (end of September) when grapes are plump and ready to be picked. Just after harvest, expect bare vines.

Where to Sit

While the views on both sides of the train are good, the scenery on the west side is slightly more picturesque.
