Mexican street food’s allure is it’s rustic immediacy—experiencing the aromas, sights and sounds of each dish being crafted,... interacting with the cooks, customizing your choices. That’s why your first step into XOCO is a step into our kitchen, where each torta is built, each baked good is fashioned, each hot chocolate is whipped to a froth as you watch. Just as street food stalls attract...

RIVER NORTH—Chad Ellegood, a 2013 Jean Banchet nominee at NoMI, will take over the NAHA and Brindille wine programs...
Michael Nahabedian went from the cusp of one blossoming neighborhood (opening Cafe Absinthe during the seedy days of Wicker Park when "there were crack houses there") to partnering with his cousin and renowned chef Carrie Nahabedian to open Naha on the cusp of another blossoming neighborhood, River North, in 2000. Nearly 13 years later, the Nahabedians finally decided it was the right time to...
As Tony Mantuano's team prepares to reopen Spiaggia in less than a month, many staffing changes are coming to his iconic Italian restaurant. The latest development sees wine director Jason Carlen departing; he sent an email over the weekend to announce his notice, but will stay on through the reopening. Acclaimed advanced sommelier Rachael Lowe (Sixteen) is leaving her sommelier post at Naha...
Despite a return to winter temps, a sign that spring is here is the appearance of fiddlehead ferns on Chicago menus. The elusive spring green is a chef favorite that's often harvested in early May, thus many of the restaurants that have them now are among the trendiest and priciest in town. Check out the map to see where fiddleheads are already sprouting in the city.
Carrie Nahabedian has a "track record" of providing "consistently excellent", "high-quality" meals at this River North New American where many dishes feature "Mediterranean influences" and get a boost from "inventive" combinations of flavors; "top-line" service and "Zen-like decor" further justify the "pricey" tabs and also help cement its status as a "fine-dining favorite."
We went to this restaurant back when it was Gordon and feel that there was a little something lost since those times. The food was really good, but not quite as good as Brindille. Having gone for restaurant week it was a pretty good deal, but I'm not sure I would have paid full price for the dishes. One annoying thing is that we decided to get a bottle of wine with the meal, but couldn't decide...
Came to Naha for the first time during restaurant week. Had a great meal, ordered the steak, medium-rare, but it came rare. It was still good, but I'd expect a place of this caliber to get that spot on. Maybe they were busy from the rush of restaurant week, and I will still come again and try the main menu. The flavors in all were amazing.
We were disappointed in the Restaurant Week lunch offerings. Mediterranean dips were smears on a plate, with 5 tiny circles of crepe to scoop them up. Vegetable soup was ordinary. Caesar salads included juicy chicken and unflavored croutons were delicious but, again, not special. The desserts were the only stand-out course.
I thought the dessert was great and our server was very nice and gave us a free dessert because our main course took 40 mins to arrive. I thought the food was ok/good but with the price and the long wait time I didn't leave feeling like I wanted to come back.
This is the second time we ate at NAHA during Restaurant Week and I have to agree with the comments left by other reviewers. While the food was excellent, the portions were too small. I understand the restaurant was serving a prix fixe meal but compared to last year's selections, the value was just not there. My other concern is the pacing of the meal. We got our appetizers immediately after...
NAHA offers a seasonal contemporary American menu that comes alive with the passions and flavors of the Mediterranean and effortlessly blends the culinary, design and management talents of the cousins Nahabedian.
Naha can be found at N Clark St 500. The following is offered: Restaurants: Mediterranean. The entry is present with us since Sep 8, 2010 and was last updated on Nov 14, 2013. In Chicago there are 17 other Restaurants: Mediterranean. An overview can be found here.
At Naha's Chef Carrie's cooking style is a combination of her Armenian roots and a California lifestyle that she enjoyed during her years as executive chef for the Four Season's Santa Barbara and Beverly Hills properties. Naha's food and wine menus change seasonally, here is a sample.

If Topolo pampers and Frontera dances, then XOCO rocks. Though the word is Mexican slang for “little sister” (from the ancient Aztec language), there’s nothing little about XOCO’s big, bold Mexican marketplace flavors. Open early, late and closed on Sundays and Mondays, this quick-service cafe from Rick and Deann Bayless proffers contemporary expressions of Mexico’s most beloved street food and...
