Help us make it rightThis lodge in the shady depths of Madera Canyon is used primarily by bird-watchers and hikers, and although the rooms are not as nice as those at the Chuparosa Inn, the birding is as good as it gets. The rooms and cabins are large, comfortable, and simply furnished, and all have kitchenettes in which you can do a bit of light cooking. So, because the nearest restaurants are 13 miles away, I...
Balboa Park's homage to photography, both moving and still, historic and futuristic.
We went in on December nights (first Friday/Sat in December) where all the museums open for free. The first hall we were in had photos from all over the world taken at the dawn of photography. We saw photos of the Colisseum, Pantheon, Parthenon, Roman forum, amongst many others. It was cool to see places we had been to taken...
A small museum at Balboa Park. It is good to spend some time there checking the photos. I really enjoyed the teenager's exhibit, to see how anyone can capture so many emotions through the lens.

It is located in the absolutely wonderful and unique Balboa Park, which is about the only really positive thing we can say about this visit. Surprisingly small, with only 3 fairly large rooms, we spent about half an hour there. The entry...
We went because my husband in into photography. It is a small but cool museum. Everything in it was interesting. Entrance fee is only $8 but you only need about an hour to see it all. The gift shop has some wonderful items especially books. I think we spent as much time in there as in the actual museum.

Balboa Park's homage to photography, both moving and still, historic and futuristic.
Check out the retro photo booths, both black-and-white and color, that still work.
Several of the museum's gallery spaces and courtyards are available for private and group rental. Museums within Balboa Park are very popular for weddings and special events, so be sure to reserve at least one year in advance.
