Fairly plain but perfectly functional motel

We stayed here for 1 night between Yosemite and Death Valley. The reception staff were friendly and there was no fuss. It wasn't too expensive and the room was perfectly adequate, although nothing particularly special.

Fairly expensive for the quality of the hotel, but this is to be expected given the location (short drive down from the eastern entrance to Yosemite, right by Mono lake, near Bodie ghost town, and can get to Death valley and back in a day). Excellent for visiting Yosemite and surrounding areas

We were very happy with the motel's location as it offered close access to Yosemite, Mono Lake and Bodie. The staff were very welcoming and the room with a king size bed was large and clean. New owners took over Murphey's last year and they are renovating rooms each winter. We would have stayed here whether they renovated or not (we like the location and they accept our beagle - she always travels with her bed and crate); but the room upgrades were really nice to see. They've picked nice color combinations, upgraded lighting, installed new...

Great motel, good recommendations

We rocked up in Lee Vining for a night before heading into Yosemite, we had no plans. We met Joey when we booked a room. As a result of his great recommendations we spent an awesome day driving the June Lake Loop, seeing South Tufa and the evening scoffing buffalo meat loaf in a Mobil garage. What a great spot....
