I know it wasn't damaged because I took it to another repair service and they confirmed it was a defect that should have been under warranty.  Not the first time he's heard of a dealer trying to rip off a customer like this because they can make more money if the customer pays for the repair then they do when it's a warranty repair.And the bigger issue is the way the sales manager didn't give a...

I am sorry you feel this way, but unfortunately if a part of the vehicle is damaged we do not have the authority to submit this repair claim to the Manufacturer for warranty. It is considered the same as a rock hitting the windshield and would be the responsibility of your insurance company that covers your collision and comprehensive coverage.
