The owners are only interested in getting as much money out of a situation as possible and have showed no humanity or caring in the way they run their business.
My son had a major accident and had to be transported to a hospital, and his car was towed by this business to their garage. The accident was bad and he had to be taken from the scene without the ability to take any of his belongings. He had medicines, his phone, and other things that were vital (life affecting) if he could not get them. It was a Saturday and the owner (a woman) refused to help and made NO EFFORT to help me or my son - even after she was told how critical it was to get things from the car and that there were some life changing things in play. She said she wanted to spend time with her kids instead of RESCUING my son from the dire situation he was in. She complained about having to give time to the business. Its amazing that this business owner was so cavaler about dismissing the situation and leaving us with no alternatives.
I went to the shop to find that she lied. She said nobody else was at the garage to help me, but there were three men working. And the owner had called and warned them that I may be coming at that I was “a problem”. In the end, it was about money and making sure they would get paid as much as possible for their tow job. They did not care at all about how their decisions affected my son – their customer.
Again, the owners of this place held back crucial medicine and vital communications (my sons phone) until I paid them almost a thousand dollars for the tow job. It is not only highway robbery; it is an example of zero customer service or caring about anybody. All they want is your money.
When a business strategy is screw every customer out of as much money as possible, you can’t trust their work, so again – avoid Muldoon’s towing at all costs.
On Tuesday 11/09 I called this place of business because I needed help after a dump body insert slid out of my pickup truck less than a half mile from Muldoon's (J&B Auto) location near Eats and Sweets. I dealt with Muldoon's in the past with previous owners and always received quality services from friendly staff. On this occasion all I got was a run around from this company's owner. The owner wanted to charge a "starting fee" of $150.00 just to assess how to lift the bed into my truck. I suggested to the woman on the phone that since they wanted to charge so much money they might as well pull the bed onto a rollback and take it to my house which is less than 3 miles away from that point. After placing me on hold again for 5 minutes for the third time while I'm on the side of busy Rt 611 this woman tells me her boss doesn't want to winch the bed onto his rollback because it might scratch it. What is that all about? So in other words if Muldoon's gets a call to an accident scene and a car lost it's wheels due to the wreck, Muldoon's (J&B Auto) is going to turn down the tow to avoid scratching his truck? That comment left me speechless. They sent one guy with a wrecker basically who did nothing because I didn't have $150 cash on me. They refused the $75.00 cash I had on me as a partial payment even after I offered my driver's license as collateral until I could go to an ATM for the remainder. I offered a check for the balance (since I'm local) but that was refused as well. The driver took $35.00 from me for doing nothing and I was left on the side of 611 in a bad spot with a dump bed laying in the road as it was getting dark out, creating a hazard for other drivers. This guy is a the worst business person ever. DO NOT get involved with these people. I've been in business here in the Poconos for 25 years and NEVER treated any customer like this company treated me.
