The Montecito Cafe Restaurant Review

This under-the-radar eatery is popular with the Montecito crowd. Rattan chairs, flower bouquets and white tablecloths make you feel like you’re in France. Servers are knowledgeable, fast and on point. While there's plenty of indoor seating, the outdoor patio, with its gentle fountain, is the prime place to dine. Many menu items overlap for both lunch and dinner, and that’s a good thing. For...

Have a "Chaplin adventure" at this "always friendly" Montecito Californian – housed in a "charming" 1920s inn built by the Little Tramp himself – where "locals and out-of-towners" of all ages enjoy "consistent", "delicious" cuisine served by a "helpful" staff in a bright room; it's a "deal" for the quality, though some feel the concomitant "noise level" may "limit conversation."

The food, when finally served, was pretty good. Our party's complaint is about the service. Waitress took forever to come for drinks order, and then we waited a full thirty minutes before we asked the hostess to please send the waitress to collect our dinner orders. She made a flimsy excuse about the waitress being caught up with the espresso machine and the hostess took our order. Well, the...

The Montecito Cafe was opened in 1986 by husband and wife team Mark and Margaret Huston, both graduates of the California Culinary Academy. The restaurant is located in the historic Montecito Inn built by Charlie Chaplin in the 1920’s. The song “There is an old hotel with a wishing well” refers to the fountain in the restaurant that is filled with fresh flowers. The Cafe specializes in simple...
