What the community has to say about Mission Cantina

Information about this business (3)

Soon after its opening beside other established chic eateries on Sunset Boulevard, Mission won the hearts of local foodies and cemented a steady clientele. Stunning decor, with a touch of the dramatic, draws patrons into the amber-studded cavernous sanctuary of the restaurant, both at once rustic and classy. The kitchen thrills diners with a gourmet take on traditional dishes. The staff is...

MetroMix ranked "Best Bar Food in Los Angeles". It's actually homemade Mexican food at a bar.

Slow-cooked and flavorful meats are the signature item here - tacos ranging from a hickory slow-smoked pork to beef barbacoa..., all served with homeade tortillas. We also have a beautiful pollo con mole. Sip a margarita on our outdoor patio. Over 200 Tequilas. Outdoor Patio & Fire Pit. Taco Tuesday & Nighly Specials. Originally we were just going to have a drink. The place was dark and moody - it IS called Mission "Cantina" after all - so we assumed their small menu could offer us only greasy bar food, at...

Can you review a Mexican place if all you had while you were there was a pitcher of margaritas? Hate to skew the rating, but that pitcher had me feeling something else, man. $25 for a pitcher that...

Tips about this business (5)

With its stained-glass windows and mood-enhancing indigo walls, this long, narrow room could be mistaken for a Mexican-inspired cathedral. But one look at the tequila-lined bar and it's obvious this mission has a decidedly different object of worship. Like bar-restaurateur George Abou-Daoud's other Sunset chill spots, Bowery and Delancey, the mission of the Mission is hardly pretentious: No matter how crowded it gets, everyone's welcome. Unlike the others, which buzz with a distinctly New York vibe, this feels like the Eagles' Hotel California come to life. Patrons in for the long haul sit...

What to Drink

Cozy up to the bar for the strong selection of sangrias, draft beers, and, of course, tequilas. All can be used in signature drinks like the jalapeno martini and grapefruit-lavender margaritas.

Save Money

It's happy hour at the Mission weekdays from 5pm to 8pm. That means everything on the bar's specialty cocktail list is half-price, and all beers are $4.

Where to Sit

Check out the stone-and-iron patio--decked out with potted plants and soft lighting, it's a cozy outdoor nook.
