I am very sorry that you have went through this,it is not fair to your mother,and I am sure you all are very frustrated.
It sounds like the model that they suggested just is not working,and she probably needs either a different model of the same size or a Behind the ear hearing aid,which should be easier for her to get in and out,and it is much more powerful.

I took my 92 year old mother in for hearing aids. She was given a hearing test and the representative suggested the model he thought was best, $4500.00 The hearing aids never fit her ears even after numerous trips to have them filed down.
