After nearly a decade wielding the whisks and knives at the classic downtown Portland French bistro Carafe, Pascal Sauton was ready for a change. He's found one with this industrial chic cafe/wine bar/fancy grocery shop/bakery/etc. located in some hopeful new construction in downtown Milwaukie. Stop in for a lunchtime sandwich, breakfast croissant, or a kir and a cookie in the afternoon. You can also pickup an elegant dinner to go or sign up for a cooking class or wine tasting. Could Milwaukie be the new Pearl?

Pascal Sauton Retires, Closes Milwaukie Kitchen & Wine

Reigning Hottest Chef in America 2013, Pascal Sauton, made the bittersweet announcment last night that he's permanently closed his two-year-old restaurant Milwaukie Kitchen & Wine — and is retiring from the kitchen permanently. In a Facebook message, Sauton wrote:

Prior to opening Milwaukie Kitchen, Sauton was the chef/owner of downtown's Carafe Bistro, which he ran from 2003 to 2011 — in his...

Stock up on fine French wine and cheese, grab a cup of Ristretto and a scone, settle in for a relaxed weeknight dinner of lentil salad and roast chicken--this ambitious Milwaukie market has a little bit of everything for everyone. Great cooking classes too!

Pascal Sauton Crowned the Hottest Chef in America

Head on over to Eater National for an interview with the champion — FYI ladies, he's single. And Sauton tells...

Lardo West's 'Ballsy' Approach; Milwaukie Kitchen, MORE

Following up his last published review of cart-to-mortar sandwich shop Shut Up & Eat, the Mercury's Chris Onstad heads to the West End to sample Rick Gencarelli's cart-to-mortar sandwich shop Lardo West, where "Gencarelli's ballsy and unapologetic food is, for the most part, a genuine pleasure."

This resturant is now closed and has reopened by Cindy and friend as Woodpecker Pizza which is very good.

This cafe-meets-wine-shop-meets-grocery-store-meets-cooking-school sets the bar pretty high for a neighborhood one-stop shop. The recently-launched weekend brunch shouldn't be missed.
