In spring, summer and autumn, Mezzogiorno...

While the star of this SoHo restaurant is certainly its cuisine—the menu is based on the authentic Florentine cucina prepared by executive chef Alessandro Gargani—locals also flock to view the Cornell-like boxes created by 100 commissioned artists that contain paintings, objects and collages and form an intriguing puzzle along the walls of the dining room. And while you’re eating, be sure to...

Editorial reviews from the web (5)

"Authentic, ample" Italiana is the forte of this "cute little" SoHo stalwart, an "old reliable" whose "cheerful" atmosphere and "attentive" service keep the "locals and tourists" coming back for more; insiders angle for a table outside or by the "open French doors."

Mezzogiorno Restaurant Review

This airy SoHo trattoria serves up such standards as carpaccio and brick-oven pizzas for both lunch and dinner, which in addition to the regular seating may be enjoyed at the large marble-topped bar or, weather permitting, at one of the sidewalk tables. The appetizer menu features sautéed calamari and mixed vegetable croquettes with goat cheese, while pasta selections include black linguine...

Upscale-yet-casual father/son-run Soho Italian eatery is your average red-wine-red-sauce neighborhood spot—no star chefs, no foams, just you, your gnocci, your (killer) margherita pizza, and prime people-watching real estate. All that at half the cost of places in the hood like it (i.e. still not cheap, but not wallet-busting either). Waiters take their time (just like the old country), but if...

Excellent service. Food decent. Pizza was Classic Italian and was delicious. Wife had fish which she said was good. Was there during the Halloween Village parade which is just around the corner but the place was dead. Not sure why. Probably would go back for pizza.

This Italian restaurant is located in the heart of Soho, which makes it ideal for a pre- or post-shopping pasta break. The flavorful tomato sauce at Mezzogiorno bursts with delicious herbs, and the crisp salad is always refreshing. Both lunch and dinner entree portions are generous, and the atmosphere created by patrons is casual and chic. Desserts are heavy and traditional: Tiramisu (which...

Know Before You Go: Call ahead for one of the outside tables--inside seats don't require reservations.

The Wine List: The restaurant features a wine list featuring about 40 different red and whites.

The Wine List: The short, pedestrian wine list doesn't include many standout bottles. The $30 Morellino di Scansano is a ripely fruited red with soft tannins that pairs well with the Tuscan dishes.
