We work a few miles away and Mexicali is on the way home, thus the reason for our two to three times a week visits. Although the food is mediocre at best, our reason for dining there was not only convenience but a server named Julia. She knew our tastes and did an excellent job, we requested her every time. Now that she has moved on, we really don't see a reason to continue. Food is food and sure, we all try our best to get a good plate at a good value but service sure kept us coming back. There's plenty of places on the way home so we've now discovered el Jacalito's on Wible. Great service and food that Mexicali could only dream to be. (Just wish we could find Julia!)
If you want real, home style Mexican food, look no further than Mexicali. Not fusion or someone trying to creat some Spanglish dish. Good tastes like my Moms. Simple clean flavors. My husbands loves their Margaritas. Decor is lovely, yet elegant. We go to Mexicali at least 4 times a month.
