Situated in what was once Merchants Hotel, this iconic restaurant has retained the architectural grandeur that attracted celebrated patrons like Dolly Parton and Hank Williams. The main floor, originally a pharmacy,...

The brick and glass exterior is a departure from the historic downtown design, and the art deco lighting highlights the wrought iron and copper fixtures inside. Patrons will enjoy the counter seats surrounding the open kitchen. The menu features some classics that have made Merchants famous in the Nashville area: Steak Frittes, Jambalaya, Smoked Bristket and Blackened Tialpia. Nestled in a...

Even as cities re-open select businesses, some restaurants may remain temporarily closed due to COVID-19. In some cases, dine-in, takeout or delivery may be available. Be sure to contact the restaurant to find out its operational status.Merchant's...

Original tiles and marble counters are among the historic elements retained, and windows look out over the hubbub of downtown. Two styles of dining are available: downstairs hosts a casual bistro-style atmosphere over black-and-white checked floors and anchored by a...

"Old-time meets modern" at this Downtown American, which provides "quality food and service" in a "charming" 19th-century hotel building converted to an "easygoing" ground-floor bistro and a "more refined" (and "intimate") dining room upstairs; bartenders pour local beers and "spectacular" cocktails "with style", the perfect accompaniment to Broadway "people-watching."

Refined dining in an historic downtown building.

In Short
Housed in a drugstore and hotel from 1892, Merchants offers both fine and casual dining in a quiet atmosphere. Dine upstairs if you want white tablecloths and attentive service,...

We waited a very long time for our first cocktail and to order. The Covid-19 requirements I am sure effected the service, there were three different people who waited on us. The wait staff was very friendly and the food was...

Happy they are open! Well organized, following all COVID-19 requirements even though I think they are excessive. Small sanitizing spray bootle at each table.
