The eatery atmosphere is wood booths and not a place for a date or meeting because you don't have privacy. We all had the ribs. They were smokey and fall off the ribs good. The sauce is more spicy and tart...not sweet like most southern bbq. The French fries where average. The beans had an odd chili taste to them...
A step back into a bygone era, Mc Clards BBQ is that hometown BBQ that has been there forever and will probably stay around forever too. The sauce is their calling card and definitely unique...zippy and sweet. The tamale spread is a huge pile of food and definitely for someone with a sturdy stomach. Ribs are delicious and sandwiches plentiful....
The ribs and the spicy sauce were good, but the beef seemed dry and a bit overcooked. The history of the restaurant is worth a visit.
My wife and I went here on July 5 last year. Excellent pulled pork plate. You get 2 sides with the plate. Try the fries very good. The flavor of the pork was exceptional. You order at the counter and pick it after it is prepared. I recommend you give them a try when in the area.
