A litle over-rated but very good quality

We spent 2 times at this restaurant and were satisfied at all. Staff and manager were very polite and pro. Food was a litle bit expensive but very nice indeed.

May May I Have Another?

Average Rating

May May is awesome in the sense the goods are always fresh and the service is always kind. Not all bakeries are like this one, tucked away in the back corner of Chinatown. No drink selections like the other places though.

the best Chinese dim sum and pastry

Average Rating
100

Lines on the weekend can be around the block, but May May is worth queueing up for. Whether you're buying one flaky bite size pastry or ordering for a crowd (they did a great job catering our wedding!), you can count of consistently great quality here.

Good food/OK prices

I think I really like about May May's food is that all their packaged dim-sums have very detailed ingredient list and nutritional facts so you know what you are actually eating. They even list sth you expect them to hide, such as MSG. I tried the red bean buns and vegan wontons. I must say I'd had better ones but I will go back for the price and service.

Business description (2)

May May Gourmet Chinese Bakery offers pork buns, dumplings, spring rolls, thai money bags, lotus steamed buns and peking steam bread. The bakery is located in Manhattan's Chinatown.

Try the savory tarts filled with curried beef or barbecued pork and baked in a Western-inspired puff pastry--a great alternative to pizza. There's a good selection of steamed buns, the popular Chinese dim sum item; also pork, shrimp, mushroom, black bean, and lotus seed. Green tea pastry dough filled with sweetened red bean paste is tasty, but the texture might not be for everyone. Whatever you do, don't leave without a "Chinese tamale"--sweet sticky rice molded around fillings like Chinese sausage and chestnut, and steamed in banana leaves.
