Help us make it rightBuilt in the High Victorian Italianate style in 1868, the two-story Sam Bell Maxey House was the family residence of Sam Bell Maxey, a Mexican War veteran, Confederate general and two-term U.S. senator.
Tours are given on the hour starting at 9 a.m., with the last tour starting at 3 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.

We had a private tour as no one else was there. this was a really great example of turn of the century living. I was excited to know that everything was actually used by the family not just an example of what it could have been.
The home's architecture is beautiful, and the history of the Confederate rebel turned Congressman's home is worth hearing and touring. One reason to visit: the home has its original furniture. Sam Bell Maxey State Histonc Structure
The Sam Bell Maxey House State Historic Site, run by the Texas Historical Commission, is a historic site located in Paris, TX.
The house was built by ex-Confederate General and United States Senator, Samuel Bell Maxey. Tour hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week, closed major holidays. Please call in advance for group tours of 8 or more.
