A moody vibe and aromatic Moroccan cuisine add up to an exotic date-appropriate dining experience.

Marrakech Cuisine Restaurant Review: The typical Moroccan fare at Marrakech --- served within a moody, lantern-lit (but simple) dining room --- includes cilantro-scented zaalook (grilled eggplant mashed with tomatoes and garlic), sausage, chicken dishes and fruit-fragranced tagines of several stripes (beef, chicken, lamb). Kebabs and couscous are, of course, also on offer, and are always a good...

Inconspicuous Wicker Park gem serves up authentic, fragrant Moroccan fare.

In Short
Don't be thrown off by the mini-bazaar of Moroccan merchandise up front; carry on through the curtains to the richly hued dining room, boasting about fifteen wooden tables, soft...

Authentic, but disorganized

Average Rating
60

The host and staff were very friendly, but terribly disorganized. I had the impression that they weren't really expecting any customers, although we arrived at 7 pm on a Friday evening. The Mezes were excellent, particularly the hummus and the
Moroccan salad. I ate Bstilla, a chicken pie in flaky pastry which was interesting, but for my taste too heavily...

Great food and good and atmoshere. I had the phu and it was amazing.

Best fallafel, excellent value

We had an early dinner here on a Saturday night. There were several tables and only one waiter - he did the best he could... The harira soup was fantastic flavor, and the fallafel was the best I've ever had. Not only did it taste homemade, but recently made! My husband ordered couscous with his entre and I had rice. The couscous was much better cooked and seasoned. To be honest, my rice tasted...

Interesting, but not what i wanted

The Harira (soup) and appetizers were good and flavorful. My vegetable tajine, though, didn't taste moroccan or have much flavor at all. the Fez tajine was okay. I lived in Fez for a little bit and I was really looking forward to a specific taste that I didn't find. Perhaps without this goal I would've enjoyed my food more, who knows? the service was nice and the meal comes with complimentary...

A little disappointed

went on a wednesday around 5:30. only ones there. food was ok, although expected more (size & quantity) for the money. although the complimentary pita wedges and lentil dip was a nice surprise. cute place, but definitely had high hopes before dining here.

Tips about this business (3)

What to Drink

Several teas and strong, viscous coffee are excellent finishes to your meal. Bring your own bottle of wine, or several beers to help wash down the well-spiced food.

The Extras

All the Moroccan bric-a-brac is for sale in the front-end store. Where else can you get those goat-skin ottoman covers you've been hunting for?

Know Before You Go

Although the menu favors meat, vegetarians can make a very satisfying meal from several appetizers, or Tajin substitutions.
