What the community has to say about Marche - Menlo Park

Information about this business (2)

Following the market, Marche offers a daily changing, a la carte menu featuring contemporary and classic French cuisine. The restaurant offers a full range of beer, wine and spirits.

Marche offers a wide variety of French dishes that are constantly changing on the a la carte menu. The food is prepared by Hong Kong trained chef Howard Bulka, so it is easy to see why an Asian touch spices up the seasonal French cuisine. Poached Lobster Zings with a dash of Coconut Milk, and Raw Salted Yellow Tail Topped with Creamy Scallop Puree are the kind of dishes you can expect to choose...

Quoting menu items wouldn't be prudent here - chef Guillaume Bienaime and staff recreate the menu weekly, if not daily, allowing the best meats and produce from area farmer's markets to dictate. The result is a seasonal, international bouillabaisse of dishes, drawing on mainly French influences but distinctively California. Brown-on-brown interior color scheme with large cloth lamps is simple...

Chef Howard Bulka, a local chef who earned his stripes working alongside Alain Chapel, explores a panoply of French flavors ranging from traditional to avant-garde. On one side of the spectrum is the sole Normandie with fresh chanterelle mushrooms in a shrimp cream sauce; on the other is the raw Ahi with heirloom tomatoes. If you really want to dine like a Parisian, we recommend the steak au...

After hearing great things about Marche', I was somewhat
disapointed.

Nice ambiance, however the room can get noisy as the tables are
close together. Pleasant simple interior is comfortable.

The high prices do not justify the average to good quality of the
meal offerings.

Food is fresh and well prepaired but not out of the ordinary.

The service is good but not...

One of the best fine dining restaurants on the Peninsula. Too bad it's closing for good this weekend.

Know Before You Go

To guarantee availability of multiple slices of the heavenly Le Concorde chocolate mousse cake, call three days ahead of your visit. Marche makes one cake nightly, and needs time to prep extra servings.

Save Money

For a broad sampling of Howard Bulka's cooking, consider the $65 seasonal tasting menu ($30 with wines), which includes the option of substituting any favorite items from the main menu.
