Mame's restaurant opened in 1978, and has been under the current ownership since 1979. Over the years, with the help of many local craftsmen, extensive renovations and changes have taken place. Everyone involved went to great efforts to preserve the original...

Editorial reviews from the web (1)

This 1820s tavern, once the home of the village doctor, now contains a warren of dining rooms with exposed-brick walls, wooden beams, and wide-plank floors. Expect a wide variety of beef, seafood, and chicken plates, but don't be afraid to order the "Luncheon Nightmare," which is pumpernickel topped with turkey, ham, broccoli, and bacon and baked in a cheese sauce. You can also find vegetarian...

I loved the building. It's a home, so there are many small rooms.
Some people have had problems finding it, but the google maps app had no trouble at all.
The food was pretty good. A whole vegetarian section on the menu. I got the vegetarian version of their signature 'Nightmare'. It was sweet and cheesy and pretty good. It...

We are Floridians spending hurricane season in the NH seashore and lake country. We couldn't have been more pleased with the atmosphere, food and staff. Don't let the parking lot turn you off..(the dumpster was really ripe and we parked too near it!). When we returned and were checking our credit card receipts I noticed that I had made an...

After passing Mames up for years, my wife and I finally stopped in for dinner and were delighted! We had thought that the seating must be very tight with a lack of intimacy in this original antique. It was the opposite cthe tables are thoughtfully placed to allow for intimate conversations and the food exceeded our expectations. A must. Comfort...

This 1820s tavern, once the home of the village doctor, now contains a warren of convivial dining rooms with exposed-brick walls, wooden beams, and wide-plank floors. Expect mostly American standbys of the fish, steak, veal, and chicken variety, including very good seafood Diane (shrimp, scallops, and salmon sautéed in butter and white wine); the mud pie is highly recommended.
