Maiz just reopened with music and dancing on weekends. The same wonderful food is here with a few additions including a hot fruit punch for the winter. The food is plentiful and inexpensive. My favorite, the $7 Alhambra Cazuela is a bowl with protein of your choice and vegetables accompanied by the incredible tortillas, two kinds of salsa, pineapple, and cilantro....
Really delicious authentic mexican. Everything on the menu kind of tastes similar though. AMAZING home made tortillas.
Cold winter's night, hot pozoles! We visited Maiz on an overnight trip to Chicago and would go back in a flash. Great margaritas, a different and most interesting selection of Mexican cuisine, plenty of veggie and fish items--my prerequisite!
Our fav for neighborhood fun and food and the best nojitos ever.
This inexpensive and homey place has some of the best Mexican food in the city. Unlike most corn kitchens they aren't just making tacos and tostadas with too much fat. A charming storefront with a wonderful view paves the way for delicious Mexican food. Start your meal with a huge margarita and a few antojitos (snacks) perfect for sharing. Move on to quesadillas with huitlacoche, tacos, huaraches, fajitas, tortas, and more. Recommended item: the Banana leaf tamale. -

The staples of this diet, and of the restaurant's menu, are maize (corn), beans, chilies, and zucchini. When you dine at Maiz, you first choose one of the six basic tortilla options and then choose...
