Formerly the Houston Post-Dispatch newspaper building and the original corporate headquarters for Shell Oil Company, the chic Magnolia takes a historic property in a modern, well-designed direction. Guests enjoy a complimentary nightly cocktail reception, as well as a milk-and-cookies buffet right before bedtime. The rooftop pool offers great downtown views. Bedding and linens are amazing, some...

Opened in 2003 in what was the Houston Post Dispatch Building (1920s), the Magnolia goes for an anachronistic blend of new and old. The guest rooms mix gold scalloped trim and traditional patterned fabrics with the clean lines of modern furniture. The overall effect is charming and comfortable and can hardly go out-of-date. Rooms are large. The bathrooms have quality amenities and fixtures....

This boutique hotel offers complimentary breakfasts and evening happy hours. Night owls can enjoy a night in with a night-time snack where freshly baked cookies and milk are served at 10 PM, or night out with a short walk to the Main Street bars and clubs....

Recently stayed at Magnolia as part of a wedding. Excellent service from the staff. The rooms were large and comfortable- but watch out for the wooden benches at the end of the bed, they hurt is the middle of the night! The bathrooms were large and clean with nice toiletries. We also enjoyed the free happy hour drinks, and our...

Room was great except for lighting above bathroom mirror, so dark it was impossible t see to put make up on, probably the worst I've ever experienced any where in the world. They did provide additional light up mirror when requested though. Great facilities, breakfast, bar area and all the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Will definitely be looking...

I booked a signature suit in the corner on the fourth floor for a great a great price compared to some of the nicer hotels in the Houston area. The room was clean, bed was comfy, full kitchen, work space, dining table, lounging area (couch & chairs), wonderful bathroom (big tub & shower combo.) Though I didn't attend, there was...
