When it opened in 1922, the 29-story Magnolia building was the tallest structure south of Washington, D.C. Today it is best known as the home of the red-neon Pegasus sign, installed atop the structure in 1934. (The current sign is a replica.) The building opened as a hotel in 1999, with tailored, oversized rooms that have an urban loft feel; the 129 suites have full kitchens.

Located in the city's most famous building, the landmark 1922 headquarters of Magnolia (later Mobil) Oil -- known by its illuminated rooftop sign sculpture of Pegasus, the winged horse -- this hotel is one of the most prized properties leading a renaissance in the heart of downtown. Many of the building's original architectural details have been lovingly preserved. The hotel is refined and...

A winged Pegasus stands like a beacon atop the historic Magnolia Building, which is located only one block away from shopping paradise---Neiman Marcus. Long an easily recognized skyline icon, this rooftop steed and the hotel it perches on…

Once the tallest building in the Lone Star State, the Magnolia's 29 stories now stand testament to the power of rebranding. It's fresh and hip in here and many a person descends as much to be seen as get in on the free domestic beer and house wine from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Look lovely and keep you eyes open for celeb sightings; Angelinos can't resist booking here.

The Bottom Line: Historic hotel serves business travelers with elegance and comfort. Guest Rooms and Rates: From $99.

Really beautiful hotel

The hotel has a lovely art deco lobby, and the rooms are nice too. One strange thing: the switch near the door turns on the nearest light and controls the plug for the lamp by the bed. So, if you want to charge your phone or run a C-PAP machine, you'll be either sleeping with the light on or standing...

Great place to stay

My wife and I went to Dallas for our 11 yr anniversary to see some live music at Trees. From the Magnolia to the venue was a cheap Uber ride. When we arrived, it was Happy Hour from 5:30-6:30 in the lounge. Two beers or glasses of wine on the house. We were also given a free appetizer when we...

new elevators fixed previous issues

Average Rating

I had stayed at this hotel last year during a major event and the elevators were in process of being replaced. Wait times were horrible. This year the new elevators were in place and it was so much better - no waits! The hotel dealt with the large influx of people well. I wouldn't say their food was the best...

Could not have had a better mini-vacation. The staff is amazing from the bottom to the top. You can tell the employees are happy and they want their guests to be happy. I feel spoiled beyond belief. Special thanks to Steve and Osmin for making it such an incredible weekend! They always go above and beyond to make each stay...
