Maddie's Sail Loft

“Still the same old Maddie’s, thankfully” say Marblehead diners of this 1942 “classic” doling out New England seafood in a downstairs pub and upstairs dining room filled with “plastic and plywood”; though the fare is generally “good”, “you don’t really come here to eat” – you come for “cocktails the size of small planets” and to “watch the locals interact”, including “some salty dogs at the bar.”

Less than a block from the harbor, Maddie's is a friendly tavern that serves good steaks as well as excellent fresh seafood. The strong drinks are another attraction, especially during the summer boating season; this (or, alas, one of the private yacht clubs) is the place to search for that cute sailor you saw down by the water. There's live jazz on Thursday nights and a lively local scene...

Excellent lobster BLT. Great locals bar with fantastic bartender. Swordfish blt great too. Get the onion rings.

Pleasant, but nothing outstanding. Good service, and well-priced (my swordfish dinner was less than $25, including tip).

Wow, I totally would have walked place this place if you yelpers didn't mention it. I initially started to walk into the divey looking downstairs but remembered someone mentioned the top floor....

Had a great meal here upstairs - staff were great helpful and patient and allowed us to make changes to the meals - not fancy but a great atmosphere !
