I've been to Linmar Gardens both on a tour and as part of a wedding. I could list a hundred things that are wonderful about this place but I think each person will have their own list of nice things about the gardens after they visit. Their is something for everything there.

While on a painting excursion to Galena, we took a tour of Linmar Gardens. What a visual feast with surprises at every turn along the garden path. We even got permission to return and spend a morning painting there. Well worth visiting.

Spent a lovely hour seeing what these gentlemen have transformed into a showplace. It is a hidden treasure for gardeners to enjoy.

The gardens are at the end of the street past the old Galena High property. Our tour guide was one of the very involved persons who keep the gardes going, The guide was very engaging and humorous, and really made the walking tour fun. It's one of those places that you want to always be there when you come back,...

This three and a half acre garden is situated on natural limestone outcroppings. It features hostas, viburnums, conifers, grasses, daylilies, annuals, and perennials. Also offered are water features, such as a small mine replica, and a sunken garden, in the ruins of one of the first African American churches in Illinois.
